Astro-planner for July 2019

Dear Friends,

Welcome to July’s Astro-planner, containing practical astro-lore for the entire month.

The Sun has moved into Cancer, a cardinal water sign, and we enter the start of the summer here in the northern hemisphere, while our friends in the southern hemisphere begin their winter. For those of us who live in New York State, we’re looking forward to a cessation of rain and some genuinely hot days. Huzzah!

For those of you new to my site, I welcome feedback of your first-hand astrological experiences in reference to this planner. Email me at info@GoshenAstrology.com.

Happy birthday to all of you who are celebrating this month!

May the Sun shine upon you,
Catherine

ASTRO-PLANNER FOR JULY 2019

July 2: New Moon at 10 degrees of Cancer with Mars switching signs into Leo. This new Moon is a total solar eclipse, a good time to lie low and have a break from your regular new Moon routine, especially as Mars is volatile, and is also squared by lightning-changer Uranus. Drink herbal tea and clean the windows. If it’s your birthday on this day, why not wait until the weekend to celebrate?

July 3: Venus moves into Cancer (where she’ll remain for most of the month) – inviting us to enjoy the sensual pleasures that home has to offer. I couldn’t think of a more apt Venus placement for America’s birthday on July 4, when so many families will be celebrating together, enjoying sunshine, swimming, and tasty home-cooked foods

July 7-31: Mercury will be retrograde – in other words, appearing to travel backwards in the sky from the vantage point of earth. My only advice is to use this period to catch up with yourself – you can get a lot done in this department, believe me. It’s also not the greatest time to purchase a new computer or a cellphone

July 11-12: Best planting days for my garden-loving readers, I know who you are! The Moon is in fertile Scorpio for all of July 11 and the morning of July 12 (EDT). Scorpio plantings bestow length, so are good for such plants as vines and runner beans.

As a general note, Scorpio gives length, Cancer gives strength, and Pisces gives root growth. So, for example, three successive Scorpio Moon waxing plantings produce long vines, three Cancer plantings produce medium vines, three Pisces plantings produce short vines.*

July 16: Full Moon at 24 degrees of Capricorn. A partial lunar eclipse, this full Moon is configured with Pluto and calls for watchfulness with regards to emotional expression. Eclipses do not function in the same way as ordinary lunations; they act like energetic bottlenecks and should be treated with caution. Somebody notify world leaders please!

July 22: Sun moves into Leo and is squared by Uranus until the month’s end – expect some action stations if you’re born around this time of the year! You have the power to overcome obstacles and move forward into a new space now

In general, July is a volatile month with its two eclipses and the personal planets predominantly in fire and water signs (picture the sizzling that happens when water meets fire). Fire is action and water is emotion.

Can we get the balance right so that there’s enough fire to create something new – without burning other people’s feelings in the process? And enough water to feel our way forward with sensitivity – without dousing the fire of action? Friction creates new possibilities when used with awareness. Enjoy July!

Astrology Update 2018

Dear Friends,

How are you faring? Let’s look at the year ahead so that we can plan in sync with the cosmos!

By now we’ve all had a chance to adjust to the overall tone of 2018 which can be likened to the year you had the strictest teacher in the school, Mrs. X. Remember that year? At first you were afraid of her, but as the year went on, your grades improved, and you began to appreciate the fact that you always knew where you stood with Mrs. X. She had no favorites, and was consistent and fair. She punished you when you broke the classroom rules or fooled around. She gave you the marks you deserved, for better or for worse. Why? Because she wanted you to learn. You never forgot the lessons she taught you about life, the universe, and everything.

Saturn in Capricorn is like Mrs. X and will be our most influential teacher until March of 2020. We are therefore encouraged to work hard and follow the rules a little closer than usual, and to set stores by for our future.

January, February and May are the months for all of us to initiate new projects and break new ground. The rest of the months of this year will see one of the personal planets (Mercury, Venus or Mars) retrograde, allowing us time for integration and evaluation of our progress.

Gemini and Virgo, your integration months are late March to mid-April, late July to mid-August and mid-November to early December. Most of the year will be relatively unpressured for you (unless you have a cardinal rising sign) so take some time to enjoy the small joys of daily life. Put off making important decisions when your life path seems cloudy.

Taurus and Libra, your kick-back period is early October on into mid-November. Research or activities which require inward-turning focused intensity are ideal for you during this period. Taurus, prepare for possible changes initiated at work this month. The theme for the year for you is expansion. For those of you born April 19 (late Aries) to April 23 (early Taurus), expect sudden and important shifts in 2018! Why not decide right now on initiating that change you’ve always dreamed of? Libra, there will be a couple of obstacles to overcome this year but you’re prepared for them – you’ve done the spadework. And once overcome, the results will be worthwhile.

Aries and Scorpio, your quieter months are July and August. Use this time to make connections with extended family and friends, or to push your technological learning boundaries. Aries, it’s the year to advance your career; help will be given. Scorpio, abundance is yours, so focus your energies only in areas of your life which you wish to grow.

For all of us, July and August are challenging months to initiate new ventures. Take note, and book your holiday soon! Let’s use the month of May to advance our cause.

Leo and Aquarius (or those with these signs rising in their charts) you continue to be impacted by the eclipse cycle. Take note of the partial solar eclipse on February 15 which echoes last year’s August eclipse; it may stir up recurring themes around partnerships. You’re being shaken up as what you thought was true is revealed as partial truth only. The best way to deal with change is to welcome it in.

Cancer and Capricorn, make use of the growth potential this year offers! Capricorn, you deserve to be rewarded for all the work you’ve already put in of late. Schedule time to treat yourself and a loved one this month. Cancer, you also need to make time to relax. The area for you to watch in February is your partner’s resources; for the year, your focus is on relationships and business partnerships. What is worth consolidating in this area of your life?

Sagittarius and Pisces (and those with these signs rising in their charts), you’re dealing with emotional and/or spiritual growth this year. You may be revisiting events from 2006. Embrace possibilities for a new working environment. Reduce clutter by clearing the decks and donating unwanted goods.

May the Sun shine upon you,
Catherine

ASTRO-PLANNER FEBRUARY 2018

Astrology Update for August

Dream this August at the Lake. Copyright Catherine Goshen 2017.

Dear Friends,

The crackling and explosive energy of July is behind us. Dare we allow our hearts to open to our dreams for a better future?

There’s a good dose of motivational energy around this month focused in the fire signs. Promote, lead, and follow through. At the same time, don’t be afraid to take calculated risks at work during early August – the time is ripe for them to pay off.

Mercury is stationing retrograde mid-month in its home, Virgo, where it’s most comfortable. There’ll be plenty of time to get to those tasks you placed on the back burner for the last few months. Whether you’re reorganizing your computer files or clearing out your clutter, tackle the work with imagination. Why not listen to your favorite opera or jazz band while you work? Experience the non-linear flow of time which visits us when we are concentrated yet relaxed.

In this way, we’ll make space for the finer things in life, courtesy of Venus in voluptuous Cancer. Be sure to pace yourself with social activities as there is a hint of caution against over-indulgence of one kind or another.

While eclipses can act as emotional bottlenecks – and we have two this August – these special new and full moons are only potent on a personal level if they contact a point in your unique chart. Keep calm, and carry on lovin’.

May the Sun shine upon you,
Catherine

August 7: Full Moon, partial lunar eclipse, at 15 degrees of Aquarius.

August 13 – September 5: Mercury retrogrades in Virgo – reorder your cupboards and/or computer files, or reupholster the furniture. You’ll accomplish plenty!

August 21: New Moon – but don’t use this one to initiate something new. It’s a total solar eclipse at 28 degrees of Leo. Perhaps you’d like to think back to what you were doing in August 1998, the last time there was an eclipse at this degree. How have you changed since then? What’s the next step on your path?
