About

In Brief

I’m a life-long student of Astrology, passionate about learning, growing, and understanding what it’s all about. As a child, I recall looking up in awe at the night sky and marveling at how the Milky Way resembles our human DNA.

Experience is the best teacher and I’ve been fortunate to run a thriving practice for many years now. What gives me deep satisfaction in my work is assisting clients to see themselves. We all recognize our own charts and simply need to be reminded of who we are – and that we came here to experience everything that is happening to us.

I hold a Level III Professional Diploma from the Rod Suskin School of Astrology and am a highest honors graduate of Noel Tyl’s rigorous Master’s Degree Certification Program for Professional Astrologers. I’m also a Certified Astrological Professional (CAP) by the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR) and served as the Chair of their Consulting Skills program from 2024 to 2026. My work embraces a mix of traditional and modern techniques, always situating my clients first.

I also hold a Bachelor of Arts Honors (first class) and a Higher Diploma in Education (awarded with distinction) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. After working as a senior editor for Oxford University Press, I married and relocated to the United States. I was consulting editor on The Whirling Winds: Suffering and Transcendence in the Movement of Energy by Suzan Donleavy (published by the American Federation of Astrologers, 2013).

I’m a long-standing member of ISAR, OPA and A.S.P (Astrological Society of Princeton, NJ). Lectures include being hosted by the annual Empowered Astrology Conference, the Washington State Astrologers Association and ISAR’s STARCLUB. My work has been published by Midheaven Magazine and I’ve taught online with Stormie Grace.

My YouTube channel is ‘catherine goshen‘ where I share Astrological insights when time allows. An extremely rewarding part of my work between 2021 and 2023 was volunteering as a mentor for AFAN’s (Association for Astrological Networking which merged with OPA in 2023) enriching Mentoring Program. I also value highly the experience of running Consulting Skills training weekends for CAPISAR.

My greatest love is teaching, and I offer a two-year program called Cornerstone. The course is currently full and ends in June 2026. I will then be taking a sabbatical from Cornerstone to create new courses for students and astrologers. Watch this space!

In Gratitude

Growing up in a home where Iyengar yoga was studied and taught by both my grandmother and mother, I was fortunate to be given a strong spiritual foundation in life. My mother was also the first person to introduce me to the spiritual lineage of astrology.

As a wife and mother of two, and a global citizen who has called two continents home, I deeply appreciate the joys and challenges that people of all ages and phases face daily in this world.

There is a continued search for meaning in my life, and a wish to understand why we are here. This search has been profoundly influenced by the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff. These teachings, together with the study of Astrology and Yoga, continue to provide a powerful means to deepen my exploration.

Studying charts, and working with clients and students, is a daily reminder of the enormous scale and intricate design of Nature — the Greatness of it All.

In gratitude for the life we have been given —
