Astro-planner for February 18, 2020 – March 20, 2020

Capricorn Earth and Pisces Water, South Africa, by Benjamin Behre

All dates and times according to Eastern Standard Time

February 18: The Sun moves into Pisces at 11:56 pm EST on February 18 and begins its journey through the last 29 degrees of the zodiac before the vernal equinox. Pisces therefore closes the circle of the zodiac, begun so vigorously with the sign of Aries…

Pisces is a mutable, feminine, water sign and its traditional ruler is expansive Jupiter. We associate Pisces with attraction to the arts and the world of glamour, the tendency to escape through aesthetic or intoxicating means, and the spiritual search for freedom from the world of illusion. The keyword here is “sensitive”. Like all things under heaven and earth, there is a sliding scale when it comes to Pisces (pardon my pun).

As the Sun enters the sign of the Two Fish it joins Mercury retrograde and Neptune in Pisces. Many of you have been feeling the confusion of this coupling, and the need to keep things simple at this time. Tie up loose ends and be patient with yourself. It’s not so easy now to progress through your to-do list in the usual linear fashion.

That said, there’s a veritable mountain of planets in grounded Capricorn to help you out as the solar month gets underway. So continue forward energetically while keeping your spiritual or aesthetic vision clearly active.

February 20 – 24: Mars in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus (3 degrees) exact. Phenomenal help to commit and act (before and) on this day courtesy of these two power-house planets in earth signs. Make it happen, lead, shine! But wait, there’s also a fairy-dust sprinkling from Neptune as it makes an easy aspect with Jupiter. Be aware of your spending patterns and find the balance between the practical and the “dream”.

New Moon Chart for February 23, 2020, New York

February 23: New Moon (10:31 EST) at 4 degrees of Pisces. At this special conjunction (joining) of the Sun and Moon, we are asked to acknowledge inwardly our very human habits of emotional behavior (Moon) and press “reset”. If you’re holding any grudges, anger, annoyance and so on towards anyone, let it go. Your Sun needs to shine and lead the way; enough dead Moon learnt-from-the-past emotional reactions… you’re tired of this already.

An easy applying sextile to Mars makes this ‘wiping the slate clean’ a practical task. Get out of bed and do something kind for someone today.

And don’t give in to mass media brain-washing; reading the news once a week is more than enough for any of us! (Try it out.)

February 25: Sun-Mercury conjunction at 6 degrees of Pisces. A good day for a special meditation practice or inward soul journey. More pragmatically, double-check dates, times, and…well, everything… before setting off

February 28 – March 2: Venus squares Pluto (at 24 degrees of cardinal signs, picking up the sensitive area of the zodiac activated by the recent Saturn-Pluto conjunction), then a few days later, Saturn. A serious time for relationships. Overcoming difficult patterns in the way you relate (intensely) with your partner may lead to a potential separation – or a break-through in seeing who is carrying or not carrying their weight. Is this partnership working for you or are you always left holding the bag? The forces at this time are strong, so be sure you are acting from a place of truth, rather than being acted upon from the outside by forces stronger than you

March 6: Venus enters Taurus, one of the signs where she’s completely at home. She’ll remain here until early April. Give yourself a much needed treat and fill the house with flowers, good food, libations and music

March 9: Full (Lenten) Moon at 19 degrees of Virgo (13:47 EST). This full moon follows on from the annual Sun-Neptune conjunction a day before at 18 degrees of Pisces, a time of intense spiritual energy or mass delusion – you decide. Recall that the sign of Virgo invites us all to discriminate between the real (the wheat) and the unreal (the chaff). Social interaction will be heightened (Venus-Uranus in earth signs). Once again, we are asked to stay centered amidst the swirling interplay of water and earth energies.

It seems as if the entire period from February 18 until mid-March is providing an intensity of opposites between earth and water – the practical and the spiritual, the solid and the flowing, the real and the illusion. How do you keep your center under the ever-changing planetary sky? The theme we spoke of earlier in the year about getting rid of dead wood is still very valid during this period

Earth (Capricorn) and Water (Pisces) energies swirl about this solar cycle

March 10: Mercury stations direct at 28 degrees of Aquarius. It returns to the watery realms of Pisces and we have the whole of March and on into April to find this “go with the flow” vibration

March 20: Sun enters Aries at 5:02 pm EST… look out for the Aries Astrology Update!
