Astro-planner for Taurus Season 2020

Landscape by Rabindranath Tagore, 1937

‘Love is the only reality and it is not a mere sentiment. It is the ultimate truth that lies at the heart of creation.’

Rabindranath Tagore, Taurus

Period April 19 – May 20

All dates and times according to Eastern Daylight Time

April 19, 10:45 am EDT: The Sun moves into the sign of Taurus, the Bull and we begin a new solar cycle. Many happy returns, Taurus!! For those of you who are sheltering in place, may you find creative ways to celebrate your special day!

Taurus is a fixed, earth sign and is ruled by Venus. In a very general sense, Taurus energy is known for maintaining the status quo in order that the beauty and abundance of all things Venusian – such as pleasure, precious objects, nature and good food – manifest in life.

Taurus, this month Saturn will be at your solar Midheaven, providing you with structure and a sense of purpose as you learn how to take increasing responsibility for yourself. Invest in your future by nurturing your self-worth in whatever way is possible for you now.

Many of you know that we currently have Uranus, the Awakener, traveling through the sign of Taurus, setting up an enormous dynamic for change, not only for people with their Sun, Moon or Rising Sign in Taurus, but for the earth itself. As you move through this Taurus season, make conscious efforts to walk barefoot on the earth. Garden and plant, look up at the stars above, and connect with nature in whatever way is possible for you. The coronavirus restrictions for ‘sheltering in place’, while discomforting for many, are leading to a revival in the world of plants, animals and the earth’s wider ecosystems. If you’re in a city apartment, you may wish to experiment with growing sprouts and wheatgrass on a warm windowsill.

April 19 – April 26: Sun conjunct Uranus. Sun-Uranus energy, for those who are sensitive to it, is often experienced as heightened electricity in the body. It is a wonderful time for sudden insights and connecting with your intuition or higher mind. Be open to new plans or surprise trips.

This energy will be felt most strongly by those of you born April 21-26, July 23-28, October 24-29 and January 21-26, give or take a day on either side. Discharge excess energy through exercise or barefoot earth walking

My Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio and Taurus friends (born between January 20-22, July 22-24, October 24-26 and April 21-23) are also experiencing the full presence of Saturn now. Saturn contacting the Sun is a time of perseverance when great advances can be made in your life. Traditionally, this time has been known to bring support from older persons as well as incredible powers of concentration and the ability to follow-through. Your career is pressing to advance now – push forward with your plans, even if the going is tough.

If you are mature or a spiritual seeker, this period may prove to be a profoundly deep time, where years of inner soul-work solidify and knowledge from within may be received.

On April 25, we have Pluto stationing retrograde, the first of four upcoming planetary stations (from Pluto, Saturn, Venus and Jupiter). When a planet appears to stand still from earth’s point of view before it turns retrograde, we call this Stationary Retrograde. (Pluto usually appears stationary for about 16 days so this is a protracted event.)

When a planet stations, the energy it represents is emphasized. Pluto energy is about power and perspective, and this could be a time period of struggle between forces which want to open up the world again and forces which want people to continue to ‘shelter in place’. This station is happening at 24° Capricorn. Those of you who have a planet, angle or important midpoint at 22°-24° of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are really feeling the full push for self-empowerment now.

While separating, the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction of April 4, also at 24° Capricorn, is still strongly in effect, encouraging us to find new opportunities for growth and restructuring.

April 22: New Moon at 3° Taurus (10:25 pm EDT). It’s time to let go of any emotional burdens from the last month and begin afresh.

With the New Moon in the sign of Taurus you are encouraged to reevaluate your relationship to the things you own, the money you earn (or don’t earn), and to your self-worth. With Uranus so close to the New Moon, you’re given the opportunity to shake up old emotional patterns and start again.

Think of a dog shaking the water off its back after a swim – within seconds, most of the water is gone due to the fact that its loose skin can move so quickly and twist so much further than its backbone. The energy of Uranus acts like the super-fast oscillating motion of a shaking dog to help old emotional patterns to release rapidly. For those of your with your natal Moon at 2°-8° of Taurus, this is a potent time of new beginnings.

In spite of this emotional release, many of us may still feel physically restricted with the Moon square Saturn, and will have to wait until the Full Moon on May 7 for a glimpse of freedom.

While April 23 and 24 favors shaking off old emotional habits which are no longer serving you, and resetting your instinctive responses, these are also wonderful days for planting and working your piece of earth. Planting with the waxing Taurus Moon enhances fertility and beautiful blooms.

A note that Leos may feel rather low energy when the Moon is in Taurus (April 23-24). Leos, allow some time to relax and be gentle to yourselves over this period. It’s all going to be alright.

April 22 – May 22: Venus in Gemini squares Neptune on and off this entire period due to the retrograde motion of Venus (at 20° of mutable signs). My mutable friends (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces), planetary energies are calling on you to shift your vibration so that you can heal your relationship or attract the right relationship at this time!

A more selfless love is called for, rather than a love that gets tired when its conditions are not met. Neptune can act like a veil over one’s vision, obscuring the real from sight. Use this time to try to see not only your partner or prospective partner in their true light but to look at yourself in a loving and uncritical way. Healing is possible now on a very deep level, facilitated by both Neptune and Pluto.

The upcoming Pluto station can act as a catalyst to help you to release hidden traumas and let go of past mistakes. The highest vibration of Neptune is deep creativity and selfless love, coming from a place of recognizing oneself in another.

With lady Venus spending such a prolonged time in Gemini, all mutable signs, as well as both Taurus and Libra (ruled by Venus) will be working on their relationships. Venus also rules money, so watch out for this subject coming up in your close partnerships. Bear in mind that money so often reflects self-worth and needs to be addressed in all close relationships.

April 27: Mercury enters Taurus and conjuncts Uranus on April 30. There’s a lot of support on these two days for readjusting your mindset and allowing new habits to take hold. Positive thinking is possible and starts with a conscious decision to change negative thought patterns from the past. With the Moon in Cancer, you’ll be helped to cement these new daily habits with ease. You are realizing that your thoughts affect your reality and that just a small effort can go a long way to creating new ways of thinking… and living.

May 7: Full Moon at 17° Scorpio (6:45 am EDT). The Scorpio Full Moon is always an emotionally sensitive time – allow your feelings room to stretch out but be careful not to let them take over and run the show. A harmonious exact sextile between Mercury and Neptune make this Full Moon a hopeful one and gives you access to healing energy. Use the energy of May 6 and May 7 to go inwards and see what you’ve managed to master over the last four weeks – you’ll be surprised at the immense shift you’ve made!

May 11: Saturn turns stationary retrograde at 1° Aquarius. Saturn appears to stand still for about 10 days before moving backwards (retrograde). After the Saturn station, life may begin to return slowly to active status, although this is going to be a slow process. Saturn relates to the passage of time and to structural concerns; delays and physical barriers will be a theme world-wide during this time.

What do you need to learn about your own inner authority and how you manage time? Have you realized yet that so-called “authority figures” (via news channels and other media) and their opinions are nothing more than that – opinions? Keep your hand-built stone wall (your own personal ethical code and inner moral compass) firmly in place and connect deeply with your own authority at this time. No one can tell you how you should be feeling.

May 14: Jupiter goes stationary retrograde at 27° Capricorn activating the Saturn-Pluto midpoint. I will talk more about this in another forum, only to say here that Jupiter emphasizes everything it touches so a positive frame of mind is essential at this time.

Look which three Houses in your natal chart have Gemini, Capricorn and Aquarius on the cusp or where the following degrees cluster: 5° – 22° Gemini and 21° Capricorn – 3° Aquarius. These are the areas of your life which will be highlighted over the next two and a half months due to the Venus retrograde, and the Jupiter and Saturn stations.

May 21: Sun enters Gemini – look out for next month’s in-depth Gemini season Astrology Update!
