January 20: Sun moves into Aquarius
January 22-23: Sun squares Uranus at 2 degrees of fixed signs. On a global scale, this aspect suggests either protests or reform. Either way, it’s never static and usually there’s some kind of disruption to the status quo. On a personal level, it’s up to you how you respond to this energy. Either give in to restlessness and end up being drawn into a disagreement with someone OR put your versatile glasses on, tune into others with your heightened intuition, and go with the flow! Real change is possible now if you pause before you act. Those born January 20 -23 or those with personal planets or angles at 1 -3 degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) will be most affected
January 24: New Moon at 4 degrees of Aquarius – again, the early degrees of the fixed signs are highlighted. For Aquarius Suns, those of you born January 20 -25 are experiencing a lot of changes this week – and this will continue on into the year! For all of us, this New Moon is square Uranus – a volatile energy which again presents us with a choice: emotional excess or directed focus of emotional expression?
January 25-26: Have you been meaning to get together with some people for a while to have a meeting or socialize? This is your weekend! Riding on the Aquarian (social) energies of the New Moon, Mercury and Mars connect harmoniously, favoring the sharing of information
February 3-4: Mercury enters Pisces and will remain there until early March. Creative thinking is favored. For those of you born with this placement, you understand first hand that it takes courage to follow your unique vision and out of the box thinking. For all of us, this is a great time to embrace new ideas and unusual ways of seeing
February 7-8: Venus leaves Pisces and enters Aries. Whatever you put out into the world on these days will be noticed
February 9: Full Moon at 20 degrees of Leo (02:33 EST). Enjoy friends and a good party on Friday, February 7, as the mood favors warm-hearted and generous self-expression. As the Moon waxes full on Saturday and into Sunday, Mars is brought into the mix. Will our excited mood lead us to rash action or will we be able to harness this fiery, active energy towards achieving our goals? This is the ultimate boon of astrology: to be forewarned is to be forearmed! Or perhaps, unharmed?
February 15-16: After a rather volatile time in Sagittarius, Mars enters Capricorn, giving us tremendous energy to get things done. This is always a good time to recommit to an exercise program! With Uranus in the mix, creativity and our spiritual connection may be intensified.
Stay centered, especially because Mercury stations retrograde on the 16th at 12 degrees of Pisces. Think about that carefully: Mars, the action planet, enters a sign that wants to move ahead forcefully with ambitious plans, while Mercury, the mind planet, decides to stop and take a much-needed break. How could you handle these seemingly opposite energies effectively?
I suggest forging ahead with activities which require strong and focused application of energy but don’t try to initiate any new projects. Allow your mind to “kick back” and let your body do the work. Tie up loose ends. Perhaps clear out your office or garage space. Give up your long to-do list for a week or two and go with the flow as only Mercury in Pisces knows how. Mercury will be retrograde until March 10 (dipping back into Aquarius en route) after which it will SLOWLY pick up speed. If possible, wait until late in March to begin brand new plans.
February 19: Sun moves into Pisces and we begin another solar cycle.
