Venus, our planet of values, money and relating, will move retrograde from October 3 until November 13. This is our time to:
Venus will be moving through the signs of Scorpio and Libra, signaling that our focus could be on emotional depth, trust and forgiveness.
In order to re-chart our course, we must be ready to acknowledge that we have changed or are in the process of changing. Much of October’s work will be private and internal and will continue on through the first half of November.
October 2 – 5: Venus moves retrograde at 8° Scorpio on the 3rd so take time to pause. Observe what is happening both internally and in the way you relate to others during this period. Relationship or financial matters from late 2018 may surface, or issues from the more recent past may return for your attention. Venus will move forward (direct) on November 13 at 22° Libra.
The best attitude to have during this period is one of sensitivity to how other people are feeling, even as you process your own emotional reactions quietly. The best therapy during this period is clearing out your closets and giving away any clothes, shoes or cosmetics that you no longer need. Adieu!
Simultaneously Mars will be traveling through Leo for all of October and most of November, and will retrograde in Leo next year. Take note of any Leo planets, Nodes or Angles you may have in your chart, as well as any planets in fixed signs, which are being activated by this Mars transit. If you don’t know your chart, do not worry. We can all look out for the tendency to act precipitously, and nip it in the bud. Considering the bigger picture before taking action can help to mitigate this fiery energy.
October 10: The New Moon arrives at 17° Libra on the 10th. The Moon is in harmonious relationship to expansive Jupiter in Leo, and Mars and Venus are getting up to mischief together. Setting your New Moon intentions constructively over this weekend may be a challenge in the face of various distractions! Keep trying, as you aim for harmony in your close relationships.
October 15: Pluto moves direct (forward), ending its long retrograde period (since early May). Make this a day of adjustment and reflect on “owning your depth“.
October 23 – 25: The Sun moves into Scorpio on the 23rd: many happy returns, dear Scorpio friends! A day later, Mercury, also in Scorpio, begins its final retrograde journey of the year. Mercury will be retrograde until November 13, from 20° to 5° Scorpio. This is a wonderful window to undertake a pilgrimage or simply to slow down. If you are experiencing delays in your professional or personal life, exercise patience by working out or calling up an old friend.
The 24th is a special day for another reason. Venus will be “in the heart of the Sun”, giving us a moment in time when harmony and abundance may shine freely out into the world. May you personify the beauty of Venus on this day!
October 26: The Full Moon, which takes place on the 26th of the month, is at 2° Taurus, and is traditionally a time to receive financial news and settle accounts in a satisfactory way. The Moon is in a T-Square with the Sun and Pluto, asking us to remain centered. An opportune time too for an evening of music, dance or culinary pursuits.
May the Sun shine upon you this October,
Catherine xo
Extracts from Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
“Siddhartha learned something new on every step of his path, for the world was transformed, and his heart was enchanted. He saw the sun rising over the forest-covered mountains and setting over the distant palm beaches. At night, he saw the stars in the sky in their fixed positions and the crescent of the moon floating like a boat in the deep blue.
He saw trees, stars, animals, clouds, rainbows, rocks, herbs, flowers, stream and river, the glistening dew in the bushes in the morning, distant high mountains pale and blue, singing birds and the bees, wind wafting like silver through the rice fields.
All of these thousands of colorful things had always been there; the sun and the moon had always shone, rivers had always roared and bees had always buzzed, but in former times all of this had been nothing more to Siddhartha than a fleeting, deceptive veil before his eyes. He had looked upon these with mistrust, as if their destiny was to be penetrated and destroyed by thought, since material things were not essential to existence, the essence of which lay beyond, on the other side of what was visible.
But now, his liberated eyes stayed on this side; he saw and became aware of that which was visible and sought to be at home in this world. […]
All of this had always existed, and he had not seen it; he had not been with it. Now he was with it, he was part of it. Light and shadow ran through his eyes, and the stars and moon ran through his heart.”
