From Cancer to Leo, July 2026: Find your Sanctuary

Greetings, Dear Astrology Lovers,

July is the time to relax within and without. Find your own place of relaxation, whether on the beach or the mountain top — and also deep within you.

There is little point in taking the day off or going on holiday only to find your mind filled with anxieties or “to do” lists. Cultivate a morning mindful practice which allows you to connect to the deep calm within — a calm which is always accessible to us through our breath.

Mercury is retrograde in calming Cancer from July 1st until the 23rd, offering us the perfect opportunity to slow down and quieten our minds. Is it possible to create a healthy new habit in 23 days? Yes it is!

May serenity be yours.

MINDFUL JULY PLANNER

July 1–9: The month begins with a call for relaxation. This is a perfect week to enjoy friends and family.

Mercury has just moved retrograde in water sign Cancer, slowing down the pace of everyday life. Mercury is our mindset planet. When retrograde in Cancer it invites us to create serene moments in our days and reconnect with loved ones we may not have seen for a while. The forward-moving pace of modern life reverses — time to reflect and to socialize is favored!

Jovial Jupiter has just entered into fire sign Leo, joining Venus there, igniting our hope for joyful recognition, heart to heart. Are we able to connect with our tribe and rejoice? Or find some quiet time and connect with our inner heart, which may be calling for a reset at this time?

With Neptune moving retrograde on the 6th, we have an even greater reason to slow down and recalibrate during early July.

July 10–14: Venus moves into Virgo on the 10th, signaling a grounding energy, especially in the arena of personal relations. The sizzling fire and water energy translates into a quenching earth-water frequency.

The New Moon at 21° Cancer on the 14th calls for quiet reflection and a serious attitude as we take stock and begin again. Consider tasks such as: clearing out emotional paraphernalia (for example, old photographs gathering dust) and planning a day of healthy, vegetable-based meals.

July 15th–22nd: A series of rare outer planet aspects create a steady background hum of increasing spiritual energy and metaphysics to get us into the groove. If you have any angles or planets around 4 degrees of Aries, Gemini, Leo, or Aquarius, you will feel this flow the strongest (or if you are born around 23–25 March, 24–26 May, 25–27 July, or 23–25 January).

On the 15th, Uranus sextiles Neptune, on the 19th, Uranus trines Pluto, and on the 22nd, Neptune sextiles Pluto. And in between all this, on the 20th, we will experience the potent Jupiter opposition Pluto, at the same degrees (4 Leo – 4 Aquarius), which can act as a catalyst to shift something that may be stagnant in your life.

July 23rd: The Sun moves out of Cancer and into Leo and Mercury moves direct. Many happy returns, dear Leo friends! As the Sun builds toward an opposition with Pluto on the 26th/27th, beware of power plays in your relationships. Give others the freedom to be themselves. With Mercury now gathering speed, you may begin to notice how you unconsciously try to control those you love with words.

July 28th: The Moon’s Nodal axis enters Aquarius–Leo, where it will travel until March 2028. We can prepare for eclipse season next month by clearing out our natal chart houses which have Leo and Aquarius on the cusps.

July 29th: Full Moon at 6° Aquarius, a time to care for the group. With Pluto close to the Moon, and the Sun and Jupiter looking on, we are called to juggle our own need for sovereignty with our tribe’s needs. Hopefully we can make room for both.

Wishing you a serene and glorious July!

May the Sun shine upon you,
Catherine

Extract from The Shvetashvatara Upanishad:

The Lord dwells in the womb of the cosmos,
The Creator who is in all creatures.
He is that which is born and to be born;
His face is everywhere.

Let us adore the Lord of Life, who is
Present in fire and water, plants and trees.
Let us adore the Lord of Life!
