Greetings Dear Astrology Lovers,
December invites us to look up!
When we look up, we see the light. We move away from what a moment ago seemed obscured, bewildering or shadowed. Our vision clears.
The month of November revealed various shocks and secrets, necessary in their own way. Now as December gets under way, and Venus leaves Scorpio for bold and optimistic Sagittarius, we can raise our eyes once again. We can take in the caressing warmth of the Sun, even on a cold day, and the hopeful brightness of the stars!
Whether there are persimmons or pears in your garden this December, make life fruitful!
Some suggestions:
Let’s see what’s in store for us!
1st – 3rd: The month begins with the Moon building to full so let’s plan on being productive. Venus has left Scorpio for upbeat Sagittarius the day before, joining Mars in this opinionated realm of the zodiac. We may feel bold but are cautioned not to overspend on luxuries with Jupiter retrograde in Cancer. The focus is rather on purposeful planning for 2026. We will be helped in our efforts by Jupiter in a harmonious trine to Saturn.
Â
4th – 5th: The Full Moon at 13° Gemini favors teaching and information sharing (air-sign Moon square the Nodal axis). If we are neither mentor nor pupil, we can look out for opportunities to find the balance between our emotional needs and our social obligations (Moon in opposition to Venus and Mars). Party season demands this, not just at the Full Moon but throughout December and early January!
Â
6th: Mercury trine Jupiter in water signs with the Moon in Cancer. A wonderful day for poetry, story or essay writing, for music composition or instrument playing, for art or for making your living space more comfortable. A great day to share confidences or a home-cooked meal.
Â
We are building now towards a Mars-Saturn square, which will cement on the 9th. Between the 6th and the 9th we may experience someone trying to force their will on us, and we may resist, leading to friction. Or we may experience delays, especially as we are impatient to move forward with our plans, now that Mercury and Saturn are direct. Practicing patience now will pay off, as will staying on task.
Â
10th: Neptune moves direct at 29° Pisces after being retrograde since early July. Take a day of adjustment (ie. take a power nap). If your job involves working with the imagination, this may be a potent time for you, with Mercury in the last degrees of Scorpio, dancing in harmony with Neptune. For all of us, we need to take extra care getting about (Mercury opposition Uranus).
Â
11th – 15th: Mercury changes signs and rides into Sagittarius. Be careful of proclamations without substance, especially after the 16th when Mercury is out of its shadow phase. When in doubt, say nothing and believe nothing! On the 15th, Mars leaves the sign of the centaur and steps onto the world’s stage in the sign of Capricorn. Physical energy peaks now and nations may react in turn. Remain mindful and be a calming influence in your own small world.
Â
19th: The New Moon at 28° Sagittarius is with Venus and squares Saturn and Neptune. What we initiate at this cycle can be both serious and inspired. This New Moon sets the tone for…
Â
21st: …the Winter Solstice, which takes place as the Sun enters Capricorn and moves to join with Mars. (For southern hemisphere readers, you experience the Summer Solstice.) This is an opportune time to wish all Capricorn Sun friends and readers a blessed birthday!
Â
The Moon is in Capricorn too at the solstice, inviting us all to reflect on the passing of time.
Â
What do you need to do with your one precious life? Are you doing it? If not, why not? There is no time to waste.
Â
24th: Venus moves into Capricorn, grounding our energies and inviting us to demonstrate love with practical acts of kindness.
Â
25th – 26th: The Moon in Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer. We may experience the flow of gratitude which is present in the world at this time. With both Uranus and Neptune at the end of the cycles, we truly are standing at the end of an epoch.
Â
27th – 30th: We are offered plenty of opportunities to reflect earnestly on our attitude and actions of the past year as Mercury squares Saturn. Journal to process the past and then let it all go!
Â
31st: The year ends with new hope and fresh ideas. A playful and social Moon in Gemini allows us to lighten up and be ready for 2026!
May the Sun shine upon you,
Catherine
Fearful, always-moving mind,
the One who has no beginning
is thinking of how hunger
may fall away from you.
Â
No ritual,
no religion,
is needed.
Â
Just cry out one
unobstructed cry.
